Brown County emergency responders were busy Monday afternoon dealing with four traffic accidents within one hour.

The first accident was minor in a retail store parking lot on W. Commerce at approximately 11:15 a.m. The second, a two-vehicle accident with non-life threatening injuries, happened just after 11:30 a.m.  at Main Street and Austin Avenue.  The third accident was a one-vehicle rollover at 12:10 p.m. on Monday afternoon.  Just minutes after this rollover accident, a 4th accident occurred on Avenue D and 4th Street, with minor damage and no injuries.

The rollover accident occurred just after the top of Bangs Hill on Hwy 67 West near Brownwood.  The sole occupant, a 27-year-old male from Brookesmith, was reported to be uninjured.

According to the driver, he had just had his tires rotated and had driven out of town, when he noticed something wrong with the back driver’s side tire, which he thought was a blow out.  The tire, according to the driver, came off of the vehicle and was said to have rolled into the eastbound lanes of traffic; however, it did not cause any further damage to other vehicles.

The vehicle appeared to have turned onto the passenger side, striking a road sign, sliding and coming to a stop facing east in the westbound bar ditch.

Texas Department of Public Safety Troopers Moody and Sams were investigating the rollover accident scene.

Brownwood Fire Department, Brown County Sheriff’s Department and EMS also responded to the scene.
