Brownwood High School Choir students delivered thirty-three (33) Mother’s Day Singing Telegrams on Saturday, May 10th. Recipients ranged geographically from those living in the Brownwood area, to those as far away as Houston, New Braunfels, and even Arkansas.

The singing telegrams were sold as a fundraiser for an upcoming trip to New York in June 2014.  Singing telegrams could be delivered in person anywhere in Brown County, but were also available to be delivered by phone, including long distance calls.

“BHS Choir students quickly learned that the words they were singing were quite meaningful to the women receiving the singing telegrams,” reported BHS Choir Director, Cindy Frankin.  “Most women receiving the gift of song were tearful as they listened to the lyrics that included messages of thanks to each mother for ‘watching over me, all the sleepless nights you lay awake, for knowing when to hold me close, and when to let me go,’ as well as ‘for giving me a choice, and helping me to find my voice.’”

“The students sang for mothers, mothers-in-law, grandmothers, aunts, and even a favorite teacher,” said Franklin. “We were blessed to be a blessing.”
