In lieu of an Easter buffet this year, Don Green and his Sodexo staff with Howard Payne University’s Dining Services will host a Mother’s Day buffet from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday, May 12 at the Beadel Dining Hall on the Howard Payne University campus.
All proceeds from the event will benefit Good Samaritan Ministries.
And this year, the Brownwood-Early Lions Club has enthusiastically volunteered to partner with Sodexo to serve at the event – acting as cashiers, hosts and busing tables.
“We are so excited to see the Brownwood-Early Lions Club partner with Sodexo to bring this event about,” said Angelia Bostick, Executive Director of Good Samaritan Ministries. “As usual, Sodexo will prepare a delicious buffet feast that will be lovely to treat the mother in your life.”
Cost this year will be $13 for adults, $7 for children ages 8 to 15, $4 for children ages 4 to 7 and three and under are free.
The Sodexo staff will prepare a buffet feast including ham, roast beef, chicken, shrimp and chicken fried steak to name a few. Also, lots of homemade vegetable and desserts will be available as well.
“We just think this is a wonderful opportunity to honor your mother or the mother of your children with a wonderful dinner out that she doesn’t have to cook,” said Anthony Larson, treasurer of the Brownwood-Early Lions Club. “And at the same time you are honoring her selfless acts and giving nature by knowing that the money you give will help those less fortunate in the community.”Larson said the club is excited about the opportunity to partner with Sodexo to help Good Samaritan Ministries.
“The Brownwood-Early Lions have supported Good Samaritan Ministries since its earliest beginnings through donations of money, food and now volunteering in the Food Pantry,” said Mr. Larson. “We are honored to partner with Sodexo at HPU in its annual Sunday dinner supporting Good Samaritan.”
Larson said that at the heart of the Lions Club is service and they are excited to be a part of the Mother’s Day buffet.
Make plans to bring your mother to the Beadel Dining Hall at HPU this Sunday from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m.
