Brownwood News – On Monday, November 19th, 2018 at approximately noon, Brownwood Police, Brownwood Fire and Life Guard EMS were called to an apartment at the Villas Apartments located at 4235 S. US 377 for a medical emergency involving a child. The 2 year old child was transported to the Brownwood Regional Medical Center in critical condition with head injuries inconsistent with information provided by the mother at the scene. The child was flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth. The child died during surgery on Monday evening.
The child’s mother, Vanessa Nicole Narvaez, 21 years of age, of Brownwood, was arrested and has been charged with Capital Murder of a Person Under 10 Years of Age. She is currently being held in the Brown County Jail with no bond.
This is an ongoing investigation being conducted by the Brownwood Police Department Criminal Investigations Division, the Texas Rangers, and Child Protective Services. No further information will be provided at this time as this is an ongoing investigation.
