One man was injured when two vehicles collided at the intersection of Main Street and Austin Avenue Monday morning.

The accident occurred shortly after 8:00 a.m.   The Ford pickup truck, traveling in the inside lane northwest on Austin Avenue, attempted a left turn onto Main Street and collided in the intersection with a City and Rural Routes bus which was traveling southeast on Austin, according to a witness on scene.   At the time of the accident, it was not reported which driver had the right of way.

The collision caused the pickup to spin, coming to a stop facing southeast.  The male driver of the pickup was not reported to have any injuries; however his vehicle had significant front-end damage.  The bus also suffered significant front-end damage.  The bus was occupied by the driver and three passengers according to law enforcement.  One of the bus passengers was transported to the hospital for evaluation and treatment of his injuries.  A witness on scene stated that the passenger had a severely “busted lip.”

Brownwood Fire Department, Brownwood Police, Howard Payne Department of Public Safety, and Allegiance Ambulance Service responded to the scene of the accident.
