Howard Payne University’s Java Jazz with Hazel Miller concert was deemed very successful, with the facility reaching near capacity and more than $5,000 raised to help send HPU’s Winds of Triumph musical group to perform at the London 2012 Olympic Games. Miller performed with Winds of Triumph, the HPU Jazz Ensemble and the university’s Heritage Singers.
“What a joy to see the Creator’s blessings at work through the talents he gave these young people,” said Stephen Goacher, director of Winds of Triumph and the jazz ensemble. “What a wonderful celebration of song and music with Hazel Miller, and what a pleasure to present it as a gift to our very own Brownwood community. The audience was great and they participated as much as the musicians with their enthusiastic response to the performers.”
Donations for the group will be accepted through April 1. To contribute, please contact HPU’s Office of Institutional Advancement at (325) 649-8006.
