Funeral services with military honors for Monroe Johnson, age 78, of Brownwood will be held on Saturday January 29, 2011 at 2:00pm at Grace Lutheran Church with pastor Curtis Schneider officiating. Interment will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. The family will receive friends on Friday January 30 from 6:00-8:00pm at Blaylock Funeral Home.
Monroe was born on January 7, 1933 to Medo and Lue Grimland Johnson. He graduated from Early High School in 1950 then attended Texas Tech University. He married Lucy Shumann on December 30, 1960 at the Grace Lutheran Church in Brownwood. He served his country in the United States Army. He was a member of the Senior Circle, loved wood working, crossword puzzles, fishing and his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife Lucy Johnson of Brownwood; daughter Beverly Taylor and husband Billy of Brownwood and son Gary Johnson of Brownwood; grandchildren Daniel Taylor of Stephenville and Lindsey Taylor of Belton.
He is preceded in death by his parents and siblings Jodie Johnson, Lawrence Johnson and Mary Lee Minchlink.
Memorial contributions may be made to the Grace Lutheran Church in Brownwood.
Services have been entrusted to the care of Blaylock Funeral Home.
