Those planning to vote in the November 2nd election have through Monday to make sure they are registered to vote in Brown County.
The race between longtime Republican Governor Rick Perry and former Houston mayor Bill White, a Democrat, is expected to be a big draw to the polls in this election. Kathie Glass, a Libertarian, and Deb Shafto, a Green Party candidate, are also in the race.
Rep. Mike Conaway (R-Midland), the incumbent for the 11th Congressional District will be challenged by James Quillian (D-Monahans), James A. Powell (L-Houston) and Jim Howe (G-Odessa).
Locally, Brown County voters will decide their next County Judge between incumbent Ray West III and his challenger Ronnie Lappe.
Other local contested races include County Commissioner Precinct 2 between incumbent Joel Kelton and challenger Charles Stavley; Justice of the Peace Precinct 3 between incumbent Bryan Thompson and challenger Mike “Pappy” Bullard; and Justice of the Peace Precinct 4 between incumbent Jim Cavanaugh and challenger Seline Alexander.
Early voting will run October 18-29.
