Brownwood Fire Department was called to a house fire in the 1700 block of 2nd Street late Monday morning.

The fire was reported at approximately 11:45 a.m. when smoke was observed coming out of the residence’s windows and roof vent.

Firefighters quickly arrived and began battling the fire, which appeared to have started at the back side of the structure, according to Assistant Fire Chief Grady Shuey.   Smoke poured from windows throughout the house.

At the time of the fire, no injuries were reported.  None of the occupants of the residence were home, according to Shuey.

The cause of the fire was not available; however, the Brownwood Fire Marshal is investigating.  Brownwood Police Department and Allegiance EMS also responded to the fire.
