Brownwood News – A Mullin woman has been arrested on a charge of Criminally Negligent Homicide in the death of her mother.
Booked into the Brown County Jail on Wednesday, November 6, 2019, was Kathy Sue Armendarez, 41. According to Brown County jail records, her bond was set at $5,000. She was not listed as an inmate in the county jail as of noon Thursday, free on bond.
The arrest stems from the drowning death of Susan Smith, 59, at Ten Mile Crossing back in May of this year. Armendarez was said to be driving a pickup that drove into rushing flood waters at the crossing. She and a male passenger managed to escape. Smith’s body was recovered downstream of the crossing several days later in the pickup.
