The Military & Family Support Group is beginning their annual Letters from Home Community Christmas Box project for 2010 and is looking to the community to help out. Each year, the organization collect cards of support and items for Christmas boxes that go to those actively serving in the military during the holidays.
The group encourages the public to participate by donating cards of encouragement and items for the military that will help them where they are stationed. This project supports all branches of the military no matter where they are located.
The Military & Family Support Group also maintains the Wall of Heroes at the Brown County Courthouse to honor those who serve and have connections to the area.
“Our Military need to know that all of us appreciate their role in protecting and defending our nation’s freedom – during times of peace and especially in times of war,” said Joyce Leidig of the Military & Family Support Group.
In 2009, the project mailed over 5000 cards of encouragement and put together close to 600 boxes.
Those who have a family member serving in the military and are interested in registering for the Letters from Home Community Christmas Box project or the Wall of Heroes can contact Babs Shields – 325-643-1259 or Joyce Leidig – 325-784-5014
