Mrs. Crossland died on Sunday, March 1, 2015 at her home in Brownwood.

Mildred Naomi Chambers was born on January 2, 1942 in McCamey, Texas to Claud Riley Chambers and Maurine Schooler Chambers. Naomi was raised and attended school in McCamey where she met and later married the love of her life, Archie Crossland on November 23, 1959.  Together they made their home in New Mexico, Oklahoma and later Atchison, Kansas before moving to Brownwood in 1987.

Naomi had worked at Oak Ridge Manor for the last 26 years in central supply as a medical records clerk as well as the environmental supervisor and was a member of the Eastside Baptist Church of McCamey.

She loved to sew and quilt in her spare time but what meant the most to her was her family. She loved cooking for her family and eagerly looked forward to family gatherings. On those occasions she made sure that no one walked away from her table hungry and the love and laughter that flowed through the house was music to her soul.

Her passing was sudden and unexpected and she had so much that she was looking forward to. Her grandson James’ wedding was approaching and her 5th great-grandchild was soon to be born. Though she may not be there to experience it with her family, Naomi will be there in spirit and her love will be felt as she smiles down from her place in Heaven. She will be dearly missed by all that knew and loved her.

Those left behind to cherish her memory are her children, Ellen Crossland of McCamey, Audrey Lewis and husband Jimmy of Brownwood, Penny Crossland of Crane and Archie Crossland and wife Lisa of Lytly; grandchildren, James Crossland and fiancé Meagan Marks, Bridgett, and Tera Crossland and Jessica Rodriquez. She is also survived by five great-grandchildren, Averanna Tarin, Nathaniel Lewis, Alexus Zepeda, Joseph Rodriguez and Jacob Rodriguez.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Crossland; parents, Claud and Maurine Chambers; and her sister, Ellen Lincoln.

Friends and family members are invited and encouraged to sign the online guestbook at www.nethertonfuneralhome.com.
