Mickey (Burnett) Cravens went to be with her Lord and Savior on Wednesday, February 5, 2020 at her home in May, Texas.

Mickey was a very loving, caring, and giving person.  She never met a stranger and loved children and people.  She was always on the go and stayed busy.

Mrs. H. L. (Mickey) Cravens was born on August 24, 1934 the daughter of Oadis and Sook (Miller) Burnett in May, Texas.  She graduated from May High School in 1951 and later attended Cisco Jr. College for two years and then finished her Bachelor Degree at Howard Payne University in 1956.  She then completed her Master’s Degree in 1957 also from Howard Payne University.

Mickey married Dr. H. L. Cravens, Jr. in 1954.  She taught for three years before they adopted a son, Lamar who is summa cum laude graduate from Howard Payne University and a graduate from The University of Texas Law School and serves as an International lawyer.  Lamar’s wife Poly is from Bangladesh.  Mickey’s daughter, Vickki is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and has been teaching for several years and working on her Master’s degree in New York City, New York and now lives in Houston.  Mickey also had a grandson, Samuel Crace who recently was a graduate of St. Andrew’s University in Scotland.  She also had two nieces, Danell Aldrighettte and Cindy Holleman.  Mickey was a stay at home Mom for many years until the children became old enough for her to resume teaching.  She taught at Woodland Heights Elementary in Brownwood for eleven years teaching 4th grade and then moved to South Elementary where she taught 4th grade for another eleven years retiring in 1999.  Her husband of 40 years preceded her in death in November of 1994.  Also preceding her in death was her sister, Glynda Jane (Burnett) Largen and her husband Jim.

Mickey loved to travel and had been all over the world during her life time.

A celebration of her life will be held at 10:30 am Tuesday, February 11, at the First Baptist Church in May.  She will be buried next to her husband at Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.

Memorials are requested to be made to the H. L. Cravens Scholarship at Howard Payne University.
