Mesquite Fuels and Agriculture will be on hand Thursday, June 10th from 1pm to 8:30pm at the Depot Civic and Cultural Center in Brownwood. Company officials will be in Brownwood to explain their plan of clearing mesquite trees at no cost to area land owners to be used as fuel in their proposed Biomass Power Plant. The company is looking to locate a power plant in Brownwood.
Land managers and notaries from the company will be available to finalize timber removal agreements with land owners. A presentation outlining the program and the power plant will be given from 6:30pm-8:30pm. The public is invited to attend to learn more about the mesquite tree removal program and the proposed power plant.
Mesquite Fuels and Agriculture is looking to secure mesquite removal agreements for 150,000 acres of mesquite covered land in the area. The trees will be removed slowly over the next 10 years or longer to fuel the power plant as a renewable energy source.
