Mercedes Arteaga Garcia, age 72, of Brownwood passed away Tuesday, March 27, 2018 in Abilene.
Memorial Service for Mercedes will be held at 6:00 p.m. Friday, March 30, 2018, at Blaylock Funeral Home with Jesse Martinez officiating. No visitation will be held. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
Mercedes was born on October 31, 1945, to Victor and Maria (Arreozola) Arteaga in Del Rio, Texas. She was a member of Cristo es la Respuesta Church (Christ is the Answer Church), which she loved. She also loved playing Bingo, but most of all she loved her family and friends.
Mercedes is survived by her daughter, Rosemary Arriaga and husband Armando of Brownwood; granddaughter, Chantalle Arriaga Gillard and husband Raymond of North Carolina; grandson, Miguel Angel Arriaga of Brownwood; and sister, Carrie Garcia of Brownwood. She is also survived by numerous other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Victor and Maria Arteaga; 2 sisters; and 3 brothers.
