Melvin Duane Felch, age 74, of Brownwood passed away Friday, January 2, 2015, in Abilene. Melvin was born October 31, 1940, in Matheson, Colorado, to Everett and Aileen Felch.
He graduated in 1958 from Colorado Springs High School. After high school Melvin attended Washburn University, Kansas State, and SMU. As a young man, Melvin worked for American Coin Meter Co. then began his career with the Dallas Police Department, retiring as a Senior Corporal after 28 years. Melvin married Mary Beth Goodson on April 30, 1994, in Brownwood. He worked at the Aldersgate Enrichment Center in Early.
Melvin served his country in the United States Marine Corp Reserve for 6 years. Having a servants heart, Melvin enjoyed volunteering with Lions Clubs International for almost 20 years where he held numerous leadership roles. Other organizations he enjoyed volunteering with are Aldersgate Enrichment Center, Good Samaritan Ministries, Methodist Men’s Group, Pecan Valley Emmaus, and various 3M activities.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Everett and Aileen Felch; brother-in-law, Jim Mowry; and sister-in-law, Brenda Carroll.
Melvin is survived by his wife, Mary Beth Felch of Brownwood; son, Mark Felch and wife Alice of Kyle; daughters, Michelle Baker and husband Jim of Ft. Worth, Terri Boyd and husband Mark of Kyle; grandchildren, Brittany, Kobi, Cole, Kaitlyn, Matthew, Cate, Joshua, Sarah, James, and Jennifer; great-grandchildren, Grayson, Dakota, and Maggie; sister, Millie Mowry of Topeka, KS; brother, Ken Felch and wife Arlene of Topeka, KS; brothers-in-law, Don Clark and wife Elna, Pat Clark and wife Sandy, and David Carroll and wife Laneta all of Brownwood. He is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Melvin will be missed by so many, he was a wonderful husband, dad, son, grandpa, great-grandpa, brother, uncle, and friend.

Services for Melvin will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 7, 2014, at Central United Methodist Church with Tim Beoglin officiating, burial will follow at Greenleaf Cemetery. Visitation for the family will be held Tuesday evening from 6-8 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home. Arrangements are under the direction of Blaylock Funeral Home.
