ProsiseMelissaOn December 7, 2011 Melissa J. Prosise was taken to be one of God’s angels, after being our angel here for 39 wonderful years. Melissa lost her life due to a car accident on December 7, 2011.

Melissa J. Prosise was born in Dardanelle, Arkansas on January 27, 1972 to her parents Don and Donna Cothran of Brookesmith, Texas. She was a remarkably friendly and outgoing person even when she was a baby.

Survivors of Melissa J. Prosise include her parents, Don and Donna Cothran of Brookesmith, Texas; husband David K. Prosise of Brookesmith, Texas; daughter Bethany and husband Jimmy Julien of Brady, Texas; daughter Kendra and husband Jake Freeman of Robaline, Louisiana; son David K. Prosise III of Brookesmith, Texas; daughter Candie Prosise of Brookesmith, Texas; brother Russell Cothran of Houston, Texas; sister Christy and husband Chris Matthews of Bangs, Texas; brother Justin Cothran of Houston, Texas; grandsons Jace and James Julien of Brady, Texas; brothers-in-law Nathan Prosise and wife Barbara Andrews of Brownwood, Texas and  Michael Prosise of Jacksonville, Florida; nephews Brent Cothran, Kyle and Tyler Teague, Ray, Joshua and Mason Prosise; nieces  Holly and Jolene Andrews. Melissa had many more family and friends that loved her so.

Melissa moved to Texas with her family when she was four years old. Melissa found the lord when she was only 4 years old when she was saved and baptized in 1976 at the New Testament Holiness Tabernacle Church. Melissa attended Brookesmith School where she was an honor student and graduated there in 1990. Melissa and David met during school and fell in love and got married on August 25, 1990. They started their lives together after that day. On February 27, 1991 they where blessed with their first blessing Bethany. A year following they were blessed with another daughter Kendra on March 5, 1992. After a few years they decided to try to have a son and they were blessed with David K. Prosise III on December 26, 1998. On August 9, 2002 they were blessed with their last blessing Candie Prosise. Melissa and David lived their lives for these children that they were blessed with. Each one of them holds a special place in Melissa’s heart.

Melissa J. Prosise found joy in the simple things in life. She loved her family and friends with all her heart and soul. Melissa never met a stranger. To Melissa, life was taking care of her family, friends and all assorted creatures that drifted in to her home. Melissa was always the first to help anyone in need, regardless of the circumstances. Melissa found true joy in opening her home to anyone who needed it. She was a celebrated cook who enjoyed those who enjoyed her cooking.

To those who knew her best, she had much love and kindness to give. She was very passionate about her beliefs and responsibilities in her life and to all she loved. There are few people in life who have the presence Melissa had. She will be very much missed by all who knew her.

Visitation for Melissa J. Prosise will be on Friday December 9, 2011 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas from 6-8pm. Services will be on Saturday December 10, 2011 at Heartland Funeral Home in Early Texas at 11 am. Burial will be at Bangs Cemetery following the services.
