Melba L. (Boatright) Mask, age 91, former Coleman and San Antonio resident, died Monday, August 19, 2019, in Keller.
Visitation will be held on Monday, August 26, from 7:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. at Stevens Funeral Home, 400 W. Pecan Street, Coleman, Texas.
Funeral service will held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, August 27, 2019, in Stevens Funeral Home Chapel with her nephew, Rev. Larry Mask, officiating. Interment will follow in the Coleman City Cemetery under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.
She was born Melba Luetta Boatright on December 10, 1927, in Breckenridge, Texas, a daughter of James Taylor Boatright and Gertrude Slate Boatright. As a child she moved with her family to Coleman where she attended school. In Coleman, she also met the love of her life, Samuel Andrew Mask, and they were married on November 17, 1945. They spent sixty-six happy years together until his death on September 19, 2012.
Following their marriage, her husband became an ordained Assembly of God minister and in 1956 they established Faith Assembly of God Church in San Antonio. Melba was her husband’s trusted helpmate in all their church activities, including women’s ministries and director of the church day care center for 8 years, as well as many other church responsibilities. She was also a homemaker and mother of five lively sons. She always enjoyed arts and crafts and was a gifted artist. For many years, she entered her paintings in the Coleman County Fair (later Fiesta de la Paloma) and won many ribbons.
She is survived by her five sons and daughters-in-law, Russell and Penny Mask of Duncanville, Ronnie and Joyce Mask of Midlothian, Randy and Judy Mask of San Antonio, Bobby and Melba Mask of Allen, Donald and Carmen Mask of Colleyville; 14 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and all of her siblings..
