Melba Baker, born on May 6, 1918, to Rueben Starkey and Bessie Tongate Starkey in Brown County, Texas, passed from this life to be with her Lord Monday, January 4th, 2016.
She was a member of the Church of Christ and graduated from Bangs High School in 1936. She married Earl Baker in January 1938 and they had four children, Janet and Larry Mead, Alaska; and Donnel and Janice Baker Beeville, Texas; Ronnel and Nicalee Baker, Commerce City, Colorado; Bennie and Howard Pierce, Early, Texas. She has 10 grandchildren and many great and great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband and parents.Graveside services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, January 7, 2016 at the Zephyr Cemetery under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home.
