Brownwood emergency responders were called to a one vehicle accident involving a truck driving into a building in the 2200 block of Belle Plain late Tuesday morning.
At approximately 10:30 a.m., an elderly male was traveling southeast on Belle Plain in a king cab Chevrolet pickup when he passed out due to a medical condition, according to law enforcement on scene. The truck traveled across oncoming traffic lanes and struck the building, which was unoccupied at the time, according to firefighters on scene.The driver was conscious after the accident and escaped with only minor injuries such as scratches, according to police. EMS provided first aid to the driver at the scene.
Oncor and Atmos were called to check utility service to the building and neighboring homes. The electricity to the damaged building was disconnected according to Oncor officials. Atmos officials reported that the gas meter to a neighboring home was struck by the pickup.
Brownwood Police Department, Brownwood Fire Department, and Texas Department of Public Safety troopers responded to the scene.
