2012PatriotsPenAwardKarissaMeans

Each year the VFW Ladies Auxiliary holds a Creative Patriotic Art contest. This year’s auxiliary winner was Karissa Means from Brownwood High School. She was awarded $100 for her first place entry.

Her entry was forwarded to District and then to State for judging at those levels for a chance to win a scholarship. Stephanie Reed, VFW Ladies Auxiliary Youth Chairman, presented Karissa with her check.

To be eligible for this award a student must be enrolled in a Brown County school and be in 9th-12th grade. Stephanie Reed takes the applications and instructions to each Brown County school so it is available to all students who qualify. The art is due by March 31st of each year.

For questions or more information about this program please contact Stephanie Reed at 325-647-2085.

“This is a great chance for the kids of Brown County to get a chance to win money for college,” stated organizers.
