The Brownwood City Council runoff election for the Ward 2 council seat was held Saturday with challenger Ed McMillian defeating incumbent Eddie Watson by 2 votes. McMillian received 177 votes while Watson received 175.
“I knew it was going to be close,” said McMillian by phone after hearing the election results. “Eddie (Watson) is a good man and did a good job.”
Watson and McMillian faced each other in a runoff election in 2010 when they ran for an unexpired term for the same seat, with Watson winning. After that year, Watson was reelected for a full 4 year term.
McMillian will be sworn in for his term as Ward 2 City Councilman at the next Brownwood City Council meeting on Tuesday, June 23rd.
