The Howard Payne University athletic department announced on Tuesday (July 22) that Sam McCutchen has left the Lady Jacket soccer program to take the head women’s soccer position at Georgetown High School in Georgetown, Texas.
McCutchen officially stepped down as the Howard Payne head women’s soccer coach for the Georgetown High School Lady Eagles after eight seasons leading the Lady Jacket program.
Starting up the newly formed collegiate program in 2006, McCutchen guided the HPU women’s program to the first winning season in only their third year of competition and to their first ASC playoff appearance in 2010.
Coach McCutchen led both the men’s and women’s teams their first two seasons of competition and then transitioned into just the women’s head coach. He leaves HPU with a 56-76-8 record as the women’s coach and a 7-23-5 record as the men’s coach.
Howard Payne has begun its search for a new coach and should make an announcement in the next few weeks.
