CASA in the Heart of Texas will be hosting a community meeting to share and talk about the kids in the community on Tuesday 19, 2012 from 5:30pm to 6:30pm in the “big room” at the Family Service Center. The public is invited and encouraged to attend. FSC is located at the corner of Austin Avenue and Avenue B in Brownwood.
Speakers will include District Judge Stephen Ellis who will speak on the critical need for CASA volunteer advocates and Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes who will speak on the Importance of supporting the children in the community.
There will be a question and answer time and sharing of information about CASA. Active CASA volunteers will be present to answer questions.
Court Appointed Special Advocates ® (CASAs) are community volunteers who are trained to act as advocates for abused and / or neglected children that have been brought into the protective custody of the State of Texas (foster care). CASA volunteer advocates are sworn in by the District Judge and take an oath to keep the best interests of the child or children they serve as their focus and to maintain confidentiality. CASA in the Heart of Texas trains and supports advocates to speak up for abused or neglected children in the foster care system in Brown, Comanche, and Mills Counties.
