BriceMaxineFuneral Services for Maxine Harris Brice, age 81, of New Braunfels, TX will be held at 2:00 p.m. Friday March 11, 2011 at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel, with the Reverend Dr. Michael Zimmerman and Reverend Hollie Briscoe officiating.  Interment to follow in Salt Creek Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home. Visitation will be held from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Thursday, March 10, 2011 at the funeral home.  Mrs. Brice passed away peacefully on Tuesday March 8, 2011 in New Braunfels.

Maxine was born on January 19, 1930 in Brown County, Texas to William Bryan and Mary Ethel Tongate Harris. She graduated from Early High School and Howard Payne University with a degree in English. She married Bob E. Brice on August 18, 1951. Maxine taught first grade at Pierce Elementary School in Bay City, Texas for thirty years.  She was a member of First Baptist Church in Bay City where she taught Sunday School.

Maxine is survived by her husband of 59 years, Bob E. Brice; son, Don Brice and daughter-in-law Karen of North Richland Hills, TX; son, Daniel Brice and daughter-in-law Barbara of Bulverde-Spring Branch , TX; grandchildren,  Jonathan and Amy Brice of Hutto, TX, Kenton and Ashley Brice of Fort Worth, TX, Kimberly Brice of Cypress, TX, Michael Brice of Bryan-College Station, TX and David Brice of Tahlequah, OK; and two great-grandchildren, Cadence and Jackson Brice of Hutto, TX.  Also survived by three sisters Josephine Haynes of Brady, TX, Shirley Touchstone of Georgetown, TX, Muriel Lamkin and husband Ken of Georgetown, TX, brother W. T. Harris of Brownwood, TX, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Bryan and Mary Harris, and brothers, Marcus, Norman and Harold Harris.

Pallbearers will be her four grandsons, Frank Sliva and Wayne Head.  Honorary pallbearers will be Vim Rye, Vicki Head, Jack Ehrke, and Buster Storey.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations in her name to the First Baptist Church in Bay City, TX or the Building Fund at Salt Creek Baptist Church in Brownwood, TX.
