SearsMaurineMaurine (Molly) Smith Sears, age 94, of Brownwood, passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 3, 2016.

Funeral Services will be held Tuesday, September 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at Heartland Funeral Home in Early. Burial will follow at Eastlawn Memorial Park. Family Visitation will be Monday from 2 – 4 PM at the Funeral Home.

Molly was born in Brownwood, Texas on November 3, 1921 to Samuel and Ruby Dixon Smith. She married Charles H Sears, Jr. on March 2, 1947 in Brownwood, Texas. Molly worked for the United States Army as a Telegraphic Typewriter Operator for the Fifth Army in Kansas City, MO until February 17, 1947 – when she resigned to marry Charles. She started with Insurance Adjusters – Batjer Claim Services in February 1956. She retired from Jetton & Dodds Insurance Adjusters in February 1994. She was a Baptist and a member of the Melwood and Southside Baptist Churches in Brownwood. She was an amazing writer and prominent member of the local Square Dance Clubs for over 25 years.

Ms. Sears is survived by daughter Charla (Gamble) Kelley-Sears and wife Judy of Merkel, Texas; grand-daughter Nikki Williford Burchett and husband Danny, of Brownwood; Sister, Sammie D Smith Chambers of Brownwood, formerly of Coleman; Great-grandchildren, Gavin & Garrett Burchett of Brownwood; and many, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, and siblings: Fernoye Smith, Audis Smith, Anita Smith Thomas and Edwena Smith Drinkard.
