singleton2Maud Singleton, 90, of Brownwood,Texas passed away Friday, September 4, 2015 In Brownwood.  Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday at Heartland Funeral Home in Early.  Maud will be laid to rest in Greenleaf Cemetery in a private graveside service.  The family will receive friends 5:00 – 7:00 PM Sunday at the funeral home.

Maud was born January 20, 1925 in Brownwood to Thomas E. and Mami Kelley Grinstead.  She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Alvin B (Scoop) Singleton; three sisters Francis Adams, Betty Adams, JoAnn Fallin and her brother Gerald T. Grinstead.

Survivors include her son Vic Singleton and wife Carrie of Brownwood; grandsons Cody Singleton of Austin and Burk Singleton of Brownwood and by four great grandchildren.

Mrs. Singleton worked 30 plus years of government service for the Selective Service System until 1988 when she retired.  In her years of service she moved around the state of Texas and ended her civil service days in San Francisco, California on Treasure Island at the Naval Air Station.  After retiring, her passion turned back to serving her neighbors.  She was a Sunday school teacher at Calvary Baptist Church for over 20 years and also volunteered at the hospital.  She was a member of the Brownwood Women’s Club and Toastmasters for many years.  Her strong faith in God was obvious through her career and retirement.  Some of her other hobbies were sewing, crocheting, knitting, doll collecting, gardening, travel and cooking.  Her and her love of God, family, and friends will be missed dearly.
