Mattie, we all knew her as Marie, Permenter of Brownwood, Texas, smiled an angelic smile and was able to see again for the first time in many years on December 29, 2012. Marie shared peace with her lost loved ones at the age of 88.
She now rejoins James Clinton Permenter, who she married on December 11, 1945 in Center, Texas. She lost the love of her life 25 years later when he passed while serving as the Ag teacher in Midlothian, Texas.
Marie was born June 13, 1924, in Concord, Texas. She was a member of the San Saba Chapter of the Eastern Star for over 50 years. She worshipped the Lord at Coggin Avenue Baptist Church for 41 years. After retiring from her beautician career, she served as the switchboard operator at Howard Payne University for over 19 years.
Marie is survived by one son, James “Mike” Permenter and wife Cathy Owsley-Permenter of Mineral Wells, two grandsons, Keith Permenter of Dallas and Clinton Permenter of College Station, as well as by three sisters, Aldris Parson of Brownwood, Bernice Shipp of Llano and Louise Lykins of Bangs, all from Texas. She is loved by numerous nieces and nephews.Included in her loving family that preceded Marie were her parents, Theron Huggins and Nina Matthews-Huggins of Bangs, and her three siblings, Mozelle Huggins-Kirby of Lometa, Odell Huggins of Lometa and Maurice “Preacher” Huggins of Bangs, all from Texas.
Marie is remembered as a mom, a grandma, a sister and a friend by all of those who knew her.
