The filing period to run for director seats on the Brown County Water Improvement District board passed on Friday, February 28th with one incumbent refilling for a seat and one new member filing.
Current board member Ted Simpson refilled for a seat on the board, but current board president Mark Campbell did not file and will retire from service from the BCWID board of directors. Former Brownwood Mayor Bert Massey also filed for a place on the board.
Officials at the BCWID said that with only two sets up for election and two candidates filing, the district will cancel the election with Simpson and Massey taking their seats for the new term in May.
The board will elect a new president and officers at their May board meeting.
