BakerMaryLouiseMary Louise Baker, age 90, of Brownwood, TX went home to be with her Lord and Savior on Saturday, March 26, 2016. Louise was born in Delta County, Colorado on January 20, 1926. She loved to serve the Lord through serving others. She married Alvin Lee Baker on May 4, 1947. They raised three children: Gary Baker, Becky McLain, and Stephen Baker. The family moved from Grand Junction, Colorado to Brownwood, TX in 1969.

Louise’s passion for the Lord motivated her to begin a mission church in Northern California, promote mission work, lead in the college ministry at Melwood Baptist Church of Brownwood, and care for foster children. She worked professionally as a nurse, first in Grand Junction, Colorado and later in Brownwood at Hickman’s nursing home and the Brownwood State School. Later in life she worked in the family business, The Little Aquarium Fish Shop, and for the Bible Book Store of Brownwood. She was a person of prayer and served on the prayer team of Southside Baptist Church.

She loved her family. They were the joy and concern of her life and she instilled in them a passion for Christian service and ministry.

She was proceeded in death by her husband, three siblings, and one son-in-law Wade McLain. She is survived by: her son, Gary Baker and wife Patty of Brownwood, Texas; her daughter, Becky Lynn McLain of The Colony, Texas; her son Stephen Baker and wife Joyce of Pipe Creek, Texas; eleven grandchildren: James Baker and wife Amanda, Racheal Davidson and husband Billy, Stephanie Garcia and husband B.J., Lindsey Groves and husband Kody, Rodney McLain and wife Bethann, David McLain and wife Caroline, Christian McLain, Andrew Baker and wife Cori, Timothy Baker, Katherine Bell and husband Jon, Kevin Baker and wife Aimee, and 10 great-grandchildren.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to Gideon’s International or Southside Baptist Church’s children’s ministry.
