Mary Jane (Foster) Barclay left this life to be with her Lord and Savior Wednesday evening April, 28, 2010.  Even though she had a lengthy illness she was blessed to be at her home until her passing.  Mary Jane was born June 1, 1921 to Steve Nathan Foster and Ada Virgilene (Maddux) Foster in Atwell, Texas. Mary graduated from Atwell and Cross Plains High School in 1939 before attending Tarleton State College in Stephenville.  She majored in home economics.   She married George Harold Barclay at the home of her parents on August 27, 1941.

After Harold returned from WWII in 1945 they lived in three different homes on Lucas drive in Early, Texas, where they raised 3 daughters.  In 1976 they moved to Mark Allen Drive where they enjoyed living the rest of their lives.  Mary enjoyed being a fulltime homemaker and cared for her husband in his times of health and sickness with love and faithful devotion. Her husband preceded her in death February 18, 2001. She delighted in time spent with her daughters, grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great granddaughter.  She enjoyed keeping a neat home, well kept vegetable and flower gardens, and always had meals cooked with an open door for family and friends.  She loved being the prepared hostess and was blessed with a servant’s heart.

The greatest influence in Mary’s life was her decision to accept Jesus as her Lord and Savior as a teenager and was an active and devoted member of Early First Baptist Church where she shared the Lord with children by teaching Sunday school classes and providing Bible drill training.

Mary was preceded by her husband, parents, four brothers and one grandson, Ray Merle Ellis.

She is survived by her sister Vera Pillans of Abilene, three daughters, Janie Boyd and husband Bryan, Ann Ellis and her husband Jerry, and Donna Gordon and her husband Bill all of Brownwood.  Her grandchildren Michaelynne Ellis Love and husband Shannon, DawnAnn Wilson and husband David, Kris Boyd and wife Dana, Jan Boyd Ward, and husband John, Shawn Stringer and wife Kayety, and Jeff Stringer.  Her great Grandchildren Ripleigh Love Degenhardt and husband Jeremy, Ryland Love, Lauren Ward, Kristi Ward, Bryce Boyd, Brady Boyd, and Brock Boyd. Her great great granddaughter is Rori Jane Degenharadt.
