Brownwood TX waldropMary Waldrop went to be with the Lord on March 11, 2013, at the age of 88. She was born in Orange, Texas on May 18, 1924, to Reverend Harry Hames and Frankie Faye Stephens Hames. After graduating from Brownwood High School, she married Paul Locker Waldrop on February 5, 1942. From 1943 until 1946, Mary and Paul lived in Austin, Texas and Sioux City, Iowa while Paul served in the U. S. Air Force.

Mary was fortunate to spend 67 years married to the love of her life. She was a devoted wife and mother, committing her life to working in the home and raising their four children. When the children were grown, Mary developed an interest in the antiques and collectibles as well as Texas art. Her passion for antiques and the history behind them led her to a life-long journey of research and study that eventually made her one of the foremost authorities on Texas primitives and antiques in the Central Texas area.

Mary was a life-long member of Coggin Avenue Baptist Church. She is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Waldrop, Sr., daughter and son-in-law Diane and Larry Holland, and grandson, Matt Holland. Mary is survived by her sister Billie Jo Edmondson, daughters Evy Winn and husband Rowland, Sue Chiles and husband Keith, and son Paul Waldrop, Jr. and wife Lynda; grandchildren, Sally Haynes and husband Scott, Tressie Winn Chambers, Rex Winn and wife Gema, Frank Winn, Michelle Brasher and husband Tim, Sam Waldrop and wife Jenny, Becky Warner and husband Phil, Wes Jackson and wife Corey, Brit Jackson and wife Sarah and 17 great grandchildren. Mary leaves behind a loving family who await that wonderful day when they will all be reunited in the Kingdom of Heaven.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to the special caregivers who allowed Mary and Paul to live out their lives in the comfortable surroundings of their own home: Earlene, Phyllis, Paula, Gilda and Jeanne, as well as Lighthouse Hospice.

Funeral services for Mary Elizabeth Waldrop will be held March 14, 2013,2:00 PM at the Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel with Tim Skaggs and Dick Williams officiating, interment to follow at Greenleaf Cemetery under the direction of Davis-Morris Funeral Home.
