On Wednesday, October 2, 2019, Mary Belle Fryar passed away at the age of 82. Mary Belle was born on September 9, 1937 in Brownwood to Howard and Sara Thompson. She graduated Brownwood High School in 1956 and married Calvin Fryar in Brownwood on November 22, 1958.
Mary Belle was a lifetime member of the Austin Avenue Church of Christ where she taught Sunday School for over 40 years. She had a passion for wildflowers and would travel each spring through the Texas Hill Country with her sister Margaret Perry to see God’s beauty. Mary Belle was known for her great smile, warm words of encouragement to those around her and a compassionate spirit. She loved everyone and everyone loved her.
She was preceded in death by her daughter, Jennifer Lea Bubics, her parents Howard and Sara Thompson, sisters Margaret Perry and Carolyn Thompson. Mary Belle is survived by her husband of 63 years Calvin Fryar, son Steve Fryar and his wife Dianne, son in law William Bubics, grandchildren Tate Fryar, Kaitlyn Brando, Cameron Fryar, Walker Fryar Harrison Fryar, Victoria Bubics and Elizabeth Bubics, three great grandchildren, several cousins, nieces, nephews and numerous friends.
A visitation will be held on Friday October 4th at Heartland Funeral Home from 6-8 PM and the funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 5th at 10:00AM at Austin Avenue Church of Christ. Burial will follow in Eastlawn Memorial Park.
