Marvin Lolen Frizzell, 90, died at home May 19, 2011, after a lengthy illness and went to be with his Lord and Savior. Funeral Services for Marvin Frizzell will be held Saturday May 21, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. at Bangs First Baptist Church in Bangs, Texas with Dick Schulze officiating, interment to follow at Bangs Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday evening at Davis-Morris Funeral Home Chapel.
He passed away Thursday May 19, 2011 at his home in Bangs, Texas. Marvin was born on February 02, 1921 in San Saba, Texas to John and Jimmy (Basandt) Frizzell.
He married Marjorie (Woods) Frizzell on May 07, 1947 in San Saba, Texas. Marvin worked in the Civilian Conservation Corps at Longhorn Cavern State Park during the depression. He was always proud of his accomplishments there. He joined the U.S. Navy as a carpenter’s mate September 1943 and served in the European theater. He was discharged honorably and went to work for the LCRA in San Saba.
While living at the Air Terminal between Midland and Odessa, he received a citation for bravery as a fireman from the City of Midland for rescuing passengers from a burning plane, December 21, 1963. He was invited to the inauguration of Jimmy Carter.
Marvin loved his church and supervised the construction of the new sanctuary at the First Baptist Church of Bangs. He enjoyed talking to other people about the Bible and he loved to donate his time and help to anyone who needed it.
Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Marjorie Frizzell; Seven daughters Lynette and husband Dexter Tonore of Devine, TX, Cynthia Lynn and husband Tim Johnson of Bangs, Shelia Gay and husband Al Slaughter of Brownwood,Lana Karol of Bangs,Shannon Beth and husband Dan Wooldridge of Georgetown, TX, Donna Sue Hatchett and husband Bo of Zephyr, and Kim and husband Terry Henderson of Bangs; a son, Johnny Wade Frizzell of Leander, TX; a brother Cotton Frizzell of Sterling City, TX; and two sisters Dell Castleberry of San Saba, and Doris Halliburton of Corpus Christi, TX. He is also survived by 15 grandchildren, Catherine Cornado, Tonia Vanderburg, Scott Larose, Kevin Perry, Justin (Jay)Perry, Brooke Tackett, Paige Allen, Chase Wooldridge, Courtney Seybert, Cameron Norris, Lance Norris, Chad Hatchett, Jason Hatchett, and Dusty Hatchett; 27 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandchild. Preceeded in death by his parents, four brothers, two sisters, one great-grandchild, and one great-great grandchild.
