Marvin E. Matlock, age 86, of Brownwood passed away peacefully Monday evening at his home. Funeral Services will be held at 10 AM Thursday in the Heartland Funeral Home Chapel with Pastor Tim Skaggs and Steve Polaski officiating. Burial will follow in the Holt Cemetery. Visitation will be held from 6 – 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home.
He was born September 2, 1925 at Holt, Texas the son of the late Luther Monroe and Winnie Vida Gober Matlock. He attended schools at Holt. He married Joyce Hayes who preceded him in death and later married Betty Evans who also preceded him in death. He was a veteran of the U. S. Navy from 1942 to 1944 serving at the Corpus Christi Naval Air Station. He later worked as a steel worker for Loadcraft in Brady, Texas and also a fence builder.
He was married to Ruth Gage in Brownwood on July 25, 1995. He was a member of the Nazarene Church in Brownwood and had been a resident of Brownwood for the past 45 years moving from Richland Springs.
He loved gardening and coin collecting and will be missed by those who knew him.
He is survived by his wife Ruth Matlock of Brownwood
Daughter, Elizabeth Murray and husband Tom of San Saba
Son – Benton Matlock of Brownwood
Grandchildren – Michael Murray of Abilene and Kayla Murray of Mineral Wells.

Several Nieces and Nephews also survive.
He was preceded in death by his spouses, Joyce and Betty, his parents, a Sister Carol Polaski, and a brother-in law, Gerald Miller.
