Marvin Clifton McKenzie of Lake Brownwood went home to be with his Lord and our Savior on Friday, May 2 after a brief illness in the hospital. There will be a “Celebration of Life Service” at Rocky Creek Baptist Church at 11:00 A.M., Monday, May 5, 2014 with Rick Justice presiding, followed by a Visitation with the Family.
Marvin was an avid hunter and fisherman who cherished swapping tall tales with his coffee buddies and shaking dominoes with his 42 group. Marvin loved his church family dearly.
Marvin was born March 11, 1934 to parents Lonnie Larkin and Nannie Eloise McKenzie in Lynn County, Texas. Marvin met the love of his life Katie Pearl Shell and they were married January 14, 1953 in La Pryor, Texas. Marvin and Katie raised their family in Idalou, Texas where they lived for 30 years. Before retiring, Marvin worked as a machinist for Harmon Tank in Lubbock, Texas. Marvin and Katie moved to the Brownwood area in 1999. Marvin was a member of the Rocky Creek Baptist Church.
Survivors are: Wife, Katie Pearl Shell McKenzie of Brownwood, Texas; Son, David and wife Michelle of Midland, Texas; Daughters, Debra and Husband Chris Shannon of Brownwood, Texas and Chris and Husband Dee Reynolds of Brownwood, Texas; Sister, Jean Willis of Levelland, Texas; Sister-in-law, Charlene McKenzie of Loop, Texas. 8 Grand-children; 5 Great-grandchildren; Numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Preceded in death by: Parents; Lonnie Larken and Nannie Eloise Lyon McKenzie; Brothers; Lonnie Olan and William Henery McKenzie; Nephew Rickey Willis; and Grandson and Namesake Clifton Carson Fields.
Honorary Pallbearers for Mr. McKenzie are his grandsons: Jeric Craven, Trey Reynolds, David McKenzie, Tobin McCarty, Landon Webb, and Andy Lopez.
