Brownwood Economic Development Corporation president Rick Martin was recognized on Tuesday for his service to the BEDC as he steps off of the board this month after his second term.  Martin was presented with a token of appreciation by Brownwood Mayor Stephen Haynes at Tuesday’s BEDC board meeting.

“I know you have made sacrifices to be a part of this and I know you have made difficult decisions over the years and you had great people to work with,” Haynes said to Martin.   “Thanks you so much for your service.”

Rick Martin began his service on the BEDC Board in November 2006, and he has been an integral part of many key projects of the BEDC including the recent parks project that resulted in the Massey Sports Complex and the Camp Bowie Family Aquatic Center, according to BEDC Executive Director Emily Crawford.   He supported several incentives and loans that have allowed for multiple local manufacturing companies to expand and create jobs including among others Barr Fabrication, 3M, Loadcraft, Kohler, and Ratliff Steel.

Crawford said that Martin has supported multiple educational programs for the local workforce such as the Ranger College Nursing Program and several welding programs offered through TSTC.

Martin served as president of the BEDC Board from 2011 – 2012.
