CloyFuneral services for Martha Kennedy Cloy will be held Tuesday, October 21 at 3 PM at Davis Morris Funeral Home.  Visitation will be held on Tuesday at 1:30 PM at the funeral home.

Marty, Aunt Martha, Aunt Marty, Mert, or Grand Marty, as she was known by many, was born to Opal and Duane Kennedy on April 17, 1941, along with her twin brother Mike in San Angelo,Texas . She was a true west Texas girl who traveled with her family and lived in Tulia, started school in San Angelo, and spent time as a child in Mason, Abilene, and San Marcos. She graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont, Texas in 1959. Marty married Danny Cloy in 1960 and they had 3 children, Michael, Po and Julie. While married to Danny, she led a semi-nomadic life traveling and following the pipeline with the Cloy clan. She dearly loved to see the world and lived in Norwich, England for a year with her children while Danny was working on a pipeline in the North Sea. After leaving Beaumont, she learned to work as a single parent and lived in Midland, Texas working as a credit manager for the oil industry prior to moving to Brownwood in 1998. Marty, known as “Dorothy” along with Joyce Coffey, Diane Shaw and Charla Gamble made up their own “Golden Girls” group. The “Girls” spent many hours sharing laughter and fun times.

She was a voracious reader, and this was evident in her well spoken knowledge of many subjects. Marty was an avid and accomplished bridge player and played with several clubs in and around the Big Country. She loved to fish and be in the outdoors, especially with her children. She also loved collecting antiques and antiquing with her family and friends. She had a keen eye for art and decorating and had a style that was unmatched. Along with her younger sister Elaine, she was known as the fun loving life of the party and she was always younger than anyone else in the room. As she went through life, she was the consummate caretaker of others, always putting others and their needs ahead of herself and she cared more about the needs of her family and friends than her own.

Marty was preceded in death by her parents Opal and Duane Kennedy, her younger sister Elaine Kennedy, and 2 brothers, Kye and Keith Kennedy.

She is survived by her twin brother Mike Kennedy of San Antonio, Texas; sisters, Patty Hayes and husband Jerry Dale of Denver, Colorado; Jane Gentz and husband Fred of Vidor, Texas. She is also survived by her children; Michael and Wife Dana Cloy of Brownwood, Richard “Po” Cloy of Burnet, daughter Julie Cloy of Ft Worth; grandchildren, Caitlyn Cloy, Carson Cloy, Caroline Cloy, Matthew Cloy, Cindy Standifer, Brittany Cox, Cody Grimes; great- grandchildren, Ricky, Kendra, Casen, Kinslee as well as numerous nieces and nephews, cherished friends and extended family.
