hoffMarion Rowland Hoff, Jr. of Brady died Friday, February 1, 2013, in a Brownwood nursing home after a long battle with Alzheimer’s.  He was born on Jan. 10, 1937 to M. R. Hoff, Sr. and Mackey Agnes Wood Hoff in Charleston, West Virginia.  Although born in Charleston, he spent his early years moving to secret locations in the United States while his father was a chemist on the Manhattan Project. In 1945 when his father had completed his contribution to World War II, the family moved to Orange, Texas which Rowland considered his home. Rowland was a 1962 graduate of Texas A&M and always an Aggie at heart. By profession, Rowland was VP of Finance for a leading manufacturer.  He served in the US Army in Korea for two years.

A wonderful husband, father, step-father and grandfather he loved his family.  His other loves were traveling in the motorhome, volleyball, tennis, performing in community theater and restoring old cars.

 

Rowland is survived by his wife, Ann Hoff, his sons David (Linda) Hoff of Fate, Texas and Terry Hoff of Buda, Texas.  His step-children, Deanna (Steve) Byrd of Brady, Texas, Dean Christy Jr. of Voca, Texas, and Donna (Robert) Fischer of Veribest, Texas. His grand children and step-grandchildren, Stephanie and Tiffany Hoff of Fate, Texas, Kassidy and Tyson Hoff of Buda, Texas, Dash and Destiny Byrd of Brady, Texas, Trey Christy of Chicago, Illinois, Landon (Ashley) Fischer of Royce City, Texas and Robynn (Matt) Jones of Bronte, Texas,  daughter-in-law Rhonda Christy of Voca, Texas. Also, his two special great- granddaughters Zoey and Adalie.

Other survivors include Peggy McConnell of Lockhart, Texas, the mother of his sons, brother -in- law Col. Ray (Michealeen) Tolar of Glen Rose, Texas and sister-in-law Harriet Hoff of Denton, Texas.

Those who preceded him in death were his parents, his son Marion Rowland Hoff III, sister Katherine Tolar, brother Richard Hoff and granddaughter Dymann Christy.

Rowland was dearly loved and will be missed by all.

A Remembrance of Life will be held at 2 PM, Saturday, Feb. 9th at the Holiday Inn Meeting Room.
