Marie Perry left her earthly home on Thursday, August 16, 2012, at 96 years of age. Marie was born in Mt. Pleasant, Texas, on December 22, 1915, to Robert Stewart and Artie Davis Stewart. She moved to San Angelo, Texas, as a young girl. She owned her own beauty shop in Miles, Texas, where she met and married R. A. Perry. They married on April 7, 1936 and later moved to Bangs, Texas in 1947 and owned a dairy farm. Marie was a faithful member of the Bangs United Methodist Church for 65 years and was a nursery attendant there and in Miles for 49 years. She was a Charter Member of the Women’s Society of Christian Service at the Miles Methodist Church. Marie enjoyed quilting as a hobby with the Mukewater Quilting Club, Bangs Methodist Church and other groups. She also enjoyed working crossword puzzles and watching her hummingbirds. Marie spent many hours each day in prayer for others.
Marie is survived by one son, Robert Perry and wife, Patricia, one daughter, Marilyn Goodson and husband, James, grandchildren, Victor Low, Stacy Perry, Brent Perry, David Perry and one sister-in-law, Aberdeen Jeschke.
Preceding her in death was her husband of 42 years, two brothers, James Stewart and Jack Stewart, one sister, Barbara Eskew and a grandson, David Drury.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Bangs Food Pantry c/o 404 Lisa Lane, Bangs, TX, or Bangs United Methodist Church.
Visitation will be held at Davis Morris Funeral Home in Brownwood on Sunday evening, August 19, 2012 from 6:00 to 8:00 pm. Graveside services will be held at 9:00 am on Monday morning, August 20, 2012, at the Bangs Cemetery. Condolences may be left for the family at www.davismorrisfuneralhome.com.
