MarNunleyMargaurette Elaine Nunley of Brownwood/Early Texas, formerly of Odessa, Texas, passed away January 21, 2010, at Brownwood Regional Medical Center in Brownwood Texas. She was born April 28, 1918, in Austin, Texas, just 3 blocks from the state capital building to Clara Anna (Wedekind) and Mack Jones Peery. She was the youngest of six children and a descendent of David Crockett who was involved in our Texas history.

Margaurette played the organ and piano in church from the time she was a young girl of about 12 years old and continued until 2009 when hearing and eyesight made it difficult for her to continue. She was active in her church all her adult life and taught Sunday School as well as being involved in the music program and other activities in the church. She was a great inspiration to her family and those about her. She never passed up the opportunity to help someone in need.

She worked for Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home where she retired after over 35 years of service as receptionist/organist. She always referred to her employers as the best anywhere in the world.

Margaurette married Robert Allen Barr Sr. in Ranger, Texas on June 1, 1936 who preceded her in death October 27, 1961. She later married Perry E. Nunley in Odessa Texas on June 14 , 1964 . And he also preceded her in death August 17, 1995.

She was welcomed home in the arms of her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, along with a host of friends and relatives which includes her parents, 4 brothers and one sister, 1 daughter Patricia (Patti) King, and one granddaughter, George Anne Bridges., one step-son Terry Nunley and his wife Peg.

She is survived by one son, Robert Allen Barr, Jr. of Hawley and two daughters Barbara (Bobbye) Martin and husband Cleo of Brownwood, and Robbie Rogers and husband E.V. of Odessa, and son-in-law Harry King of Hawley.

Surviving Grandchildren, are Jimmy, David and Shawn Ellis of Odessa, Texas.

Rodney King of Lubbock and Stephen King of Haskell. Jessica Armstrong of Waco and Bliss Helpert of Lorena. Captain Mary Kay Nunley stationed at Guantanamo Bay Cuba, Steve Nunley, Chuck Nunley, Alice Bourgoine, Gretta Boyer, Paul Nunley, Elizabeth Tingwall, of Albuquerque, New Mexico. 25 great-grandchildren and five great-great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be held 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 23, 2010 at the Rocky Creek Baptist Church near Lake Brownwood, Texas with Rev. Ric Justice officiating.  Family Visitation will be held 1:00 – 2:00 P.M. Saturday at the Church prior to the service.

Burial will be held 5:00 P.M. Saturday at Evergreen Cemetery in Ranger, Texas under the direction of Heartland Funeral Home in Early, Texas.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to Rocky Creek Baptist Church Homebound ministries in Brownwood, Texas, Greenfield Acres Baptist Church in Odessa, Texas, or to the charity of your choice.
