Margaret Ann Lawrence Burkhart, 70, of Brownwood, died Saturday, January 22, 2011 at Methodist Stone Oak Hospital in San Antonio. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Thursday, January 27, 2011 at Stevens Funeral Home Chapel, 400 West Pecan Street, Coleman, with Rev. John Stanislaw officiating. Burial will follow in the Coleman Cemetery, under the direction of Stevens Funeral Home.

She was born Margaret Ann Lawrence on January 16, 1941 in Brownwood, the daughter of Dava Lois McCoy Lawrence Blankenship and the late Narvin Lynn Lawrence. She grew up in Mozelle and graduated from Mozelle High School and attended Hardin-Simmons University. She married Frankie Don Burkhart on August 12, 1960 in Fisk. He preceded her in death in 1990. She worked for several years as a medical records clerk in Plainview and worked as a property manager in Port Aransas. She volunteered her time with local blood drives and coached Little Dribbler’s for many years. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Coleman.
She is survived by three children, Murry Burkhart and wife, Gina, of Spring Branch, Beth Burkhart of San Antonio, Jeff Burkhart and wife, Brenda, of Wichita Falls; her mother, Dava Blankenship of Coleman; three sisters, Billie Simpson Goodwin of Livingston, Linda Williams of Midland, Judy Rowe of Midland; five grandchildren, Morgan and Blake Burkhart of Spring Branch, Cheyenne and Sierra Burkhart of Henrietta, Chelsea Lawalls of Cisco and several nieces and nephews.

She was also preceded in death by her father, Narvin Lawrence in 1987 and her step-father, Albert Blankenship in 2002.

Family visitation will be from 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. Wednesday, January 26, 2011 at Stevens Funeral Home.
