According to Early Police reports, at approximately 2:30 pm Tuesday, Officers Pattimae Furry and Sgt Shawn Dibrell observed 28-year-old Charles David Harlan in a passenger seat of a vehicle on Early Blvd. Harlan is wanted on multiple charges from Brown Co, Lubbock Co, and Early municipal court. He is also wanted for questioning regarding a forgery case that occurred in Early.
It was reported that Officer Furry was able to catch up to the vehicle on East Commerce and conduct a traffic stop in the Kroger parking lot. Harlan is noted to have a history of running from the police on several occasions. Officer Furry, Sgt Dibrell and Brownwood City Marshall Dean Kilburn were able to detain Harlan without incident.
It was noted by Chief David Mercer of the Early Police Department that Harlan made the comment “If I had been driving we would have had some fun.” Harlan was then transported to the Brown Co Jail.
