TexasDPS_logoA man was hit and killed by a train in Eastland County early Saturday morning just two hours after crashing his car into a tree.

According to a DPS report, 21-year-old David Anthony Tinajero of Ranger was travelling at a high rate of speed down County Road 449 with four passengers when he lost control and struck a tree.

Two of the passengers, Tiffany Pericolosi, 16 of Ranger, and Tomeka Murray, 19 of Ranger, were flown to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene.

According to the report, Tinajero ran from the scene of the accident when law enforcement arrived.  Troopers searched for him, but called off the search after two hours of looking.

A short time later, a train engineer reported that he saw something on the tracks. He began slowing the train when he saw Tinajero raise his head up and then put his head back down.  The train ran over the man’s legs, killing him

Alcohol and or drugs are suspected in the incident according to the report.
