BPDpatchSmallBrownwood Police are investigating a stabbing that occurred at a home in the 2300 block of Austin Avenue early Wednesday morning.

At approximately 12:15 AM Brownwood Police were dispatched to the 2300 block of Austin Avenue regarding an aggravated assault.  While en route, dispatch advised that two male suspects had entered into the residence and stabbed a third male in the back, the report states.  The two males were reported to have left the scene prior to the officer’s arrival.

As the officer was nearing the residence, he was flagged down in the 3600 block of Austin Avenue by a vehicle stopped in the roadway, according to police reports.  A male was running to the passenger side of the vehicle and told the officer that his friend needed medical attention because he had been stabbed in the back, the report states.  EMS was called to that location.

While waiting for EMS, the victim explained to the officer that he and the other male had been visiting two females at the home on Austin when two male suspects entered the residence and began to fight them, the report states.  The victim further stated that one of the males pulled a knife and stabbed him in the back.  EMS arrived and transported both males to the hospital for treatment.

A BPD detective was called to the scene.  At the scene, the responding officer was able to get an account of the incident from the two females.  According to the report, there was blood on the floor and a television was lying screen down on the floor, appearing that some sort of disturbance had occurred at the residence.

The females stated that the victim and second male had been invited to the house and were on the porch smoking but came into the residence and told the two females that they thought a friend of theirs had pulled up outside, the report states.  Just after this statement, the two suspects entered through the front door and immediately began fighting the second male who was not the stabbing victim.  The victim had pulled the two males off of the first male and began fighting with them when he was stabbed, according to the report.  One of the females called 911 and the two suspects left the residence, as did the two other males to seek medical help.  The suspects also left a pellet gun at the residence.

Brownwood Assistant Chief James Fuller stated that the incident is still under investigation.  20-year-old Alexander James Cole Gordon of Brownwood was arrested on a warrant for burglary of a habitation with intent to commit other felony in connection with the case.  Other arrests are expected in connection to the stabbing according to Fuller.

Fuller said that both male victims were released from the hospital later on Wednesday.
