Early police continue to investigate a domestic disturbance that occurred on Monday which resulted in the shooting of an Early man who remains hospitalized in critical condition.
According to Early Chief of Police David Mercer, 45-year-old Nelson Thomas remains in critical condition at John Peter Smith Hospital in Fort Worth. Thomas was shot in the abdomen with a 20-gauge shotgun by his wife Micah after he allegedly assaulted her, Mercer said. No one else was home at the time of the shooting.
Officers located Thomas lying on the front porch of the home in the 200 block of Crescent Drive Monday around 5:25 PM with a gunshot wound to the stomach.
Nelson Thomas’s wife was transported from the scene to Brownwood Regional Medical center for anxiety and assault wounds.
Mercer said that the investigation is continuing.
