Two men were arrested after a man was robbed at gunpoint and two others threatened early Monday morning.

According to police reports, the two suspects were said to have been thrown out of a local bar, the Oasis Club, located in the 1000 block of W. Commerce for bringing beer into the business.  After the bar had closed, several patrons went to a neighboring residence to continue their partying and the two suspects attempted to join them and were told that they were not welcome.

The resident of the home was then allegedly threatened by one of the men with a gun and then the suspects drove back to the bar parking lot where they met another patron (who had also been at the after party) and robbed him at gunpoint, taking $40, according to police.

As Brownwood Police officers responded, another call was received by police in the 1500 block of Belle Plain regarding two subjects who were at the property with a gun.  The descriptions of the two men in the second incident matched the description of the two men who had been at the Oasis Club and neighboring residence with a gun. The two men were later identified as 36-year-old Eric Jones and 22-year-old Jeffery Lee Schaffer.

According to the report, while at the residence on Belle Plain, Schaffer stated that an argument had started after Jones tried to kiss a woman at the residence and got into an argument with her boyfriend, but that Jones did not have a gun.  Schaffer is a felon and this gave reason for him to deny there ever being a gun in his presence, the report states.

Due to both incidents having witnesses that gave matching descriptions of the two men and accounts of the gun, Jones and Schaffer were arrested.  Jones was charged with 2 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 1 count of Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.  Police said that Schaffer, having been in the vehicle with Jones and having seen the gun and having knowledge of the robbery and not doing anything to stop it, was charged with 1 count of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and 1 count of Aggravated Robbery with a Deadly Weapon.  Jones was held in the Brown County Jail on $90,000 bonds and Schaffer was held on $60,000; both remained in custody as of Tuesday morning.
