Brown County Sheriff’s Deputy David Varner responded to a call late Wednesday night of a man lying in the road near the intersection of Hwy 377 S and FM 586.
Sheriff’s reports say that while Varner was in route, dispatch advised him that the man was now in the bar-ditch. As passing motorists stopped to check on the man, he began to curse and yell at them according to the report.
At one point, the man also was lying with his head on the roadway and his body in the bar ditch according to the report.
When Deputy Varner arrived and spoke with the man about his actions, he detected indications that the man was extremely intoxicated the report says. It also indicates that the man attempted to give false identification to Varner when he was questioned.
Varner finally identified the man as 26-year-old Timothy Scott Thacker of Brownwood. Thacker already had two outstanding warrants for assault family violence and a parole violation. He was arrested on those warrants and charged with public intoxication and failure to identify a fugitive.
The report states that Thacker was passed out in the back seat of the patrol car on their way to Brown County Jail.
