CarandJeep_Hwy18369-year-old Melford Seawright died Friday evening as a result of injuries he sustained in a wreck north of Early on US Hwy 183N according to Brownwood police.

The two vehicle collision happened Friday afternoon shortly after 3pm.  Police reports state that Seawright’s 1994 Buick and a 2005 Jeep Wrangler collided in the highway.   Seawright was trapped in the vehicle after the wreck and was extracted by the Brownwood Fire Department by removing the right passenger door.  He was airlifted to Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene where he later died police said.

The female driver of the Jeep told police that she didn’t remember seeing the other vehicle, but remembers the impact.  She believes that she was traveling at 70 mph.

The police report states that Seawright’s vehicle pulled in front of the Jeep either from County Road 338 or by a U-turn according to varying witness accounts.

Funeral arrangements for Melford Seawright are pending at Brazos Funeral Home in Waco.
