Brownwood News – A Brownwood man remained in Brown County jail as of Friday morning, January 3, 2020 on a $100,000 bond, charged with injury to a child. (All arrestees are considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.)
According to jail records, Luis Alfonso Perez, 23, of Brownwood, was booked into the Brown County Jail on December 27, 2019.
According to a report obtained from the Brownwood Police Department, it was on December 24, 2019 that officers were dispatched to an apartment at 1500 Terrace in Brownwood regarding a medical emergency. A 4-month-old child was the victim in this call and was taken to Brownwood Regional Medical Center where he was being treated for bleeding on the brain. The child was then flown to Cook Children’s Medical Center in Fort Worth, the report states.
Detectives with the Brownwood Police Department followed up on this injury and on December 27, 2019, officers interviewed the father of the child; 23-year-old Luis Perez of Brownwood. Mr. Perez admitted in an interview to causing the injuries that were noted in the report from Cooks Children’s Medical Center, the report states. Mr. Perez was arrested and charged with Injury to a Child Causing Serious Bodily Injury, according to the report.
